Live-in housekeepers, cooks, or maintenance personnel can be employed for $500-$700 per month, plus a guest room or studio apartment of their own in your residence. Costa Rica welcomes you to stay on a full-time basis. With a provable pension or foreign income of only $600 per month, Costa Rica will grant you “pensionado” status and allow you to stay as long as you wish each year. You can obtain a similar permission, no matter what your age, by depositing $60,000 in a local bank account, and agreeing to leave it there, as long as you wish to have “rentista” status. These rules are subject to change, and you will need to consult a local attorney to begin the application process, but the welcoming philosophy remains. You are only a few hours from all parts of North America. Direct flights from to both San Jose and Liberia International airports (Liberia is less then an one hour drive from most communities on the Gold Coast) Maintaining family ties and friendship connections is easier from Costa Rica than most other foreign countries with similar retirement advantages.
